Microsoft Copilot and Bing AI visibility for Shopify stores

Use Bing crawl and citation tooling, AI Performance, IndexNow, and source-level Copilot observations without inventing rankings.

Microsoft’s Bing Webmaster Tools introduced AI Performance in public preview in February 2026. It reports citations, cited pages, grounding-query samples, and trends across supported Microsoft AI surfaces. Microsoft explicitly says citation counts do not indicate ranking, authority, or placement.

Technical path

  1. verify the site in Bing Webmaster Tools
  2. inspect priority product URLs and crawl errors
  3. submit Shopify sitemap
  4. use IndexNow where the storefront integration supports it
  5. review AI Performance citations and page-level activity

Product accuracy case

HexClad’s product entity leaked Default Title. Faster discovery through IndexNow would only refresh the malformed identity faster. Repair public facts before requesting refresh.

Copilot observation

Save prompt, locale, answer, inline citations, source list, and timestamp. Keep Webmaster aggregate citation data separate from one manual Copilot answer.

Controls

Bing supports data-nosnippet for excluding selected visible sections from snippets and AI-generated answers while retaining discoverability. Apply it only to content that should not be summarized; do not hide decisive product facts and then expect accurate answers.
