Fact 1: exact product identity
State the product type, model, size, and intended use. “The Everyday Essential” is a campaign name, not a complete identity.
Better:
Oakline Extendable Dining Table, 160-220 cm, seats 6-8
Stable identity also depends on SKU, GTIN, or MPN where they exist. These identifiers help feeds and shopping systems distinguish the product from a similarly named item.
Fact 2: who or what it fits
Suitability drives conversational shopping. Depending on the category, publish:
- apparel measurements and fit
- device models and connection standards
- skin type and ingredient constraints
- room size and product dimensions
- age, skill level, or use environment
“Universal” is rarely enough. If an adapter supports MacBook Pro models from 2021 onward but not a particular display mode, state both facts.
Fact 3: what the buyer receives
Bundles and subscriptions regularly fail this check. List every physical or digital component, quantity, size, renewal condition, and meaningful omission.
For a coffee starter set:
Included: dripper, 100 filters, 250 g house blend, dosing scoop
Not included: kettle, grinder, or mug
Subscription: coffee renews every 30 days; equipment ships once
This is more useful than “everything you need,” which is contradicted by the missing kettle and grinder.
Fact 4: current purchase state
Price, currency, availability, selected variant, shipping region, and subscription conditions must agree. A visible price can be correct while the Offer object in Product JSON-LD is stale.
Store owners should switch between variants on the public page and verify:
- price changes when expected
- unavailable sizes cannot be purchased
- subscription price is not mistaken for one-time price
- market currency matches the page
- preorder timing is visible
Fact 5: exclusions and limitations
Recommendation confidence improves when a page helps rule the product out. A rain jacket can be water-resistant without being waterproof. A serum can be fragrance-free without being suitable for every allergy. A 65W charger may deliver 65W through one port but split output when three devices are connected.
Limitations reduce returns and prevent an answer engine from overstating the product.
Put the facts in the right places
Use the Shopify product description for customer-facing explanations and metafields for reusable named attributes. Ensure your theme renders decisive facts as text, not only in images or icons.
Ask a developer to confirm that appropriate facts also reach Product schema and connected product feeds. Not every custom attribute belongs in Schema.org, but visible and feed data should not contradict each other.
