Minute 0-5: check commerce facts
Pick three products: the top seller, a product changed this week, and one product with presale questions.
Open each public page and verify selected-variant price, currency, availability, shipping statement, and subscription terms. This catches a common AEO problem: the marketing page was updated, but a variant or connected product feed still carries an old value.
Record only exceptions. The routine should not become a catalog audit.
Minute 5-10: read customer language
Open support tickets, product reviews, chat transcripts, or return reasons. Select one question that contains a buying constraint.
Weak question:
Is it good?
Useful question:
Will the DockPro 12-in-1 run two 4K displays from an M2 MacBook Air,
and does it include the required power adapter?
Check whether the product page answers the exact question. If not, add it to the content backlog.
Minute 10-15: inspect one product attribute
Choose one recurring attribute such as dimensions, material, compatibility, ingredients, or what’s included. Confirm that the attribute is stored consistently.
In Shopify, a reusable fact often belongs in a metafield. Your theme can display the metafield, while a developer can decide how it should map into structured data or feeds.
Do not create five labels for the same concept. Waterproof rating, Water protection, and Weather resistance may become three conflicting fields unless the catalog owner defines them.
Minute 15-20: run one buyer question
Use one clean, unbranded question in the AI surfaces relevant to your market. Save:
- exact prompt
- platform and visible mode
- date, language, and country
- products or stores mentioned
- source URLs shown
- obvious factual errors
Do not turn one answer into a visibility score. Model output can vary. The value is in a repeatable observation with the same prompt.
Minute 20-25: assign one correction
Choose one task that can be verified:
Add "power adapter not included" to the DockPro product page and
the package-contents metafield by Thursday. Recheck the public page.
Avoid assignments such as “improve GEO.” They have no completion condition.
Keep a four-column log
| Date | Product or prompt | Observation | Next action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jul 27 | DockPro 12-in-1 | adapter contents absent | add visible contents table |
| Jul 27 | dual-display prompt | official page not cited | rerun after page update |
Once a month, give the log to the developer or agency maintaining JSON-LD, Merchant Center, Shopify Catalog, or crawler controls. The detailed monitoring method is in Shopify AI visibility monitoring.
